“Surviving Evil” has survived its freshman run.
Investigation Discovery’s hit series has been picked up for a second season, the cabler announced today. 10-episode second run will begin filming within the next few months.
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum Charisma Carpenter will return to host the show, which examines real-life crime stories of men and women who fought back against their attackers. Survivors recount their tales of heroism in their own words.
“‘Surviving Evil’ is relevant and powerful to me, because it offers the rare opportunity to not only show amazing human acts of courage and survival against all odds but to empower our viewers to take charge of their personal safety,” Carpenter said.
The show was ID’s highest-rated series during the third quarter of 2013 among adults and women 25-54. “Surviving Evil”s August 2013 debut ranked ninth in its time slot among cable-supported nets.

ID bills itself as the leading “mystery-and-suspense” network on TV, and America’s favorite “guilty pleasure.”
The 10-episode second season begins filming in early 2014; the program is one of ID’s strongest, ratings-wise. The first season, which premiered on August 28 with

Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Charisma Carpenter has signed on to return as host of Surviving Evil, which was picked up for a second season by Investigation Discovery.
Carpenter will shoot 10 more episodes as Surviving Evil returns to production for a premiere date later in 2014. The show features real-life stories of men and women who have fought back against their attackers and lived to tell the tale. Each true crime story is told in the survivor’s own words.
“This is one of the most gratifying things I’ve ever done,” Carpenter says. “There’s a real sense of giving people their dignity back. These are remarkable people.”
In the first episode of Surviving Evil last August, Carpenter told her own story: In 1991, the actress (then 22 years old) was attacked and held at gunpoint at a San Diego beach by
