New Baltimore couple’s murderer subject of ‘Deadly Women’ TV show

A young woman’s role in the horrific murders of a New Baltimore couple will be subject of an Investigation Discovery episode Friday.

Samantha Bachynski’s involvement in the deaths of Scott and Melissa Berels will be the topic of the ID channel’s “Deadly Women” series at 10 p.m. Friday.

Macomb Daily staff writer Jameson Cook was interviewed as part of the broadcast.

Bachynski was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and several other charges along with Patrick Selepak for the 2006 slayings of the Berels, both 27, in their home. Melissa had befriended Selepak, who was the leader of a crime spree with Bachynski that also included the murder of a 53-year-old man in Genesee County in the days following the murders of the Berels’.

Selepak first fatally strangled Melissa Berels, who was pregnant, and then with Bachynski’s help tortured Scott Berels before strangling him. Bachynski injected bleach into Scott Berels.
