LBC Talent produces adaptation of Wizard of Oz

This past Saturday, Oct. 21 LBC Talent and The Star Maker School presented an adaptation of the classic story, The Wizard of Oz at the theatre at Clinton Township Middle School in Clinton.  

Starring in the leading role made famous by Judy Garland in 1939, MGM musical fantasy film was newcomer, Bella DePaola, 15 of Flemington as Dorothy Gale.   

Accompanying DePaola down the ‘yellow brick road’ was Ryan Apgar, 15 of Clinton (Evil Lives Here, Investigation Discovery) as the Scarecrow, Cameron Clifford, 17 of Flemington (Broadway; Billy Elliot, Waiting for Godot , Touring; Billy Elliot, Regional; First Wives Club, On Golden Pond) as the Tinman, Justin Lopez, 16 of Annandale (Sierra Trading Post, IKEA) as the Cowardly Lion and newcomer, Hudson Boarts, 4 of Pittstown as Toto.

Pam Dean ( The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Sneaky Pete for Amazon) of Annandale frightened even the strong of heart as the evil scheming; Wicked Witch of the West while Dar Calkin of Flemington worked her motherly magic as Glinda the Good Witch of the North. Newcomer, Brandon Dobranski, 17 of Somerville, will play the all-powerful Wizard of Oz.

Rulo cult story to air on Discovery – News

The Investigation Discovery Channel will air a feature this week related to the infamous cult crimes that occurred in the Rulo, Nebraska, area in the 1980s.

The Hiawatha World said the channel will air “Evil Lives Here” at 9 p.m. Central time on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

The focus of the story is Dennis Ryan, then the 16-year-old son of cult leader Michael Ryan. The elder Ryan was convicted of second-degree murder in the torture and death of James Thimm, a cult follower whom Ryan believed was turning on him.

Hiawatha native Rod Colvin, who documented the cult in his book “Evil Harvest”, told the newspaper that the show’s producers told him of the feature.

Discovery Investigation to air Rulo-cult story on Dennis Ryan

The Discovery Channel will be airing a Rulo-cult related story on Feb. 22 called “Evil Lives Here.”

The focus of this piece is Dennis Ryan, then 16-year-old son of cult leader Michael Ryan, who was convicted of 2nd degree murder in the torture and death of James Thimm, a cult follower who the elder Ryan felt was turning against him.

The story of the Rulo, Neb., cult has been documented by the book “Evil Harvest,” written by Hiawatha native Rod Colvin, who told the Hiawatha World that he was notified by producers of the show that it will air at 10 p.m. E.S.T. (or 9 p.m. Central time) on Investigation Discovery.

The cult was a group of around 20 adults and several children, who followed MIchael Ryan, on a farm near Rulo, Neb. Michael Ryan died in 2015 of brain cancer after serving on Nebraska’s death row since 1986.

People/Biz Douglas leaves ID, launches Momentum

Investigation Discovery executive Christina Douglas has exited the Discovery Communications-owned true crime network to launch her own firm, with New York-based prodco Blackfin backing the new shop.

Momentum Content will specialize creating, developing and producing crime formats and unscripted programming with Blackfin in the U.S., UK and Canada. Momentum currently has a slate of crime and investigation-driven formats in the pipeline for 2017.

Douglas will work out of Blackfin’s New York offices, working closely alongside CEO Geno McDermott. The pair will serve as exec producers on all series.

“Geno’s innate storytelling sensibility, exceptional visual style and dedication to producing premium quality content matches my vision for Momentum,” said Douglas in a statement.

The former network exec has previously served as the development exec for Blackfin’s Investigation Discovery series I Am Homicide, one of ID’s highest-rated series for 2016. A second 10-episode season order is currently in production.

Blackfin Inks Co-Production Deal With Christina Douglas’ Momentum Content

Blackfin has signed an overall co-production deal with former Investigation Discovery executive Christina Douglas and Momentum Content, her newly launched production banner specializing in crime formats.

Under the deal, Douglas will create, develop and produce unscripted programming to be co-produced with Blackfin in the United States, Canada and United Kingdom. Douglas will relocate to Blackfin’s Financial District office and work closely with Geno McDermott, Chief Executive Officer of Blackfin. McDermott and Douglas will serve as executive producers on all series. Douglas has a history with Blackfin, having served as the development executive for the Blackfin hit series I am Homicide for ID.
