This week Grave Secrets spotlights the macabre murder of Dwight Tobyne, whose body parts were found in three different counties.

To everyone around him all seemed well, as Dwight continued to write emails and send messages to his family and friends. But by July 2010 his daughter became worried something had happened to him and reported him missing.

It turned out Dwight was in the process of divorcing his wife Shari Tobyne and on the day he was due to move out of the family home she shot him dead.

Shari then kept his body in their house before eventually dismembering it and dumping the parts in three different counties. She kept up the illusion of him being alive by using his phone to email and text his friends

This week Grave Secrets spotlights the murder of newly married Cody Johnson, who went missing just days after he was wed to Jordan Graham.

25-year-old Johnson was reported missing just days after the pair had tied the knot, with 22-year-old Jordan initially claiming he’d taken off one night to go hiking with friends. She then told police that she’d been sent an email from a man called Tony saying that there had been an accident and that her husband would not be coming back.

However, the investigators soon saw through her conflicting lies and it became clear the two of them had travelled to Glacier Park in Montana and gone hiking. Graham

This week Grave Secrets spotlights the crimes of serial killer Dayton leroy Rogers, who dumped the bodies of six victims in the Molalla Forest area of Oregon.

Between 1983 and 1987 Dayton Leroy Rogers killed at least six women and possibly several more.

The married father of one worked as an engine mechanic and was in considerable amounts of personal debt. His victims were mostly vulnerable women who were drug addicts, prostitutes or runaways whom he lured to their deaths.

This week Grave Secrets examines the brutal stabbing to death of caseworker Tracey Bagwell, who was killed in her own car.

June 2001, in Florida and 36-year-old Tracey Bagwell had just returned from a vacation and was catching up with friends and family. A few days later her body was found inside her car in a church parking area, she’d been stabbed over 30 times.

Bagwell worked as a case worker in foster care and was passionate about her job and this might have even have aided her murderer. The investigation turned up a co-worker who had been embezzling funds amounting to over $100,000 from the very children that that Bagwell was so caring about.

Truck stop killer Bruce Mendenhall is spotlighted on Grave Secrets

Sara Hulbert was sexually assaulted and then shot in the head and dumped at a truck stop

This week Grave Secrets spotlights the crimes and possible crimes committed by Bruce Mendenhall, a truck driver who murdered Sara Hulbert and is accused of several more killings.

June 25, 2007 and 25-year-old prostitute Sara Hulbert went missing after getting high with friends and taking a lift from a truck at the nearby stop. Her body was found at another Nashville truck stop, she’d been sexually assaulted and shot in the head.

Police viewed CCTV footage from the truck stop where she was last seen and in a lucky break one of the detectives recognised the truck they were interested at another stop. The driver was 56-year-old long haul trucker Mendenhall and a search of his truck turned up a shocking inventory of objects.

This week Grave Secrets examines the murder of Reyna Marroquin in a case that took over 30 years to solve.

1999 and some new homeowners were getting ready to move into their house in Nassau County, New York, when the man organising the sale spotted an old barrel in the crawl space. When it was opened he was horrified to find the mummified remains of a young woman.

A forensic examination showed her to be of Hispanic origin, in her late 20s and was nine months pregnant. She was around 5’0 tall and had some quite unusual work done to her teeth and had died from blunt force trauma to her head.

Reyna Marroquin and her married lover, Howard Elkins, will be the main story on ID’s Grave Secrets documentary this week. Reyna Marroquin was a pregnant immigrant woman from El Salvador who vanished in the 1960s in New York. Her mummified body was found in a barrel 30 years later inside a Jericho, New York home. New York detectives cracked the case in 1999. Howard Elkins, a retired businessman who police say killed the woman, took his own life when he was confronted with the crime. State of the nation drama.
Peter Kosminsky’s four-part drama “The State” was broadcast over consecutive nights on Channel 4 last week and has been praised by critics as “compelling” and “essential viewing”. The story follows British Muslims who travel to join ISIS and their experiences inside the radical Islamist state in Syria. Kosminsky wrote and directed but is best known for directing the TV adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s “Wolf Hall” and drama “The Promise”.
