Investigation Discovery’s Paula Zahn probes cold case involving San Bernardino Mountains, Glendora – Press

The 1976 murder of 18-year-old Cynthia May Hernandez, a Glendora woman who was found decades later buried in the San Bernardino Mountains, and the case against her killer will be featured Sunday evening on the Investigation Discovery channel.

Hernandez left her home on Aug. 26, 1976, to catch a movie alone at the Fox Twin Theaters in Covina, according to a news release from the San Bernardino County District Attorney. But Hernandez, a recent Charter Oak High School graduate, never returned home.

The next morning, the young woman’s family found her 1963 Chervolet station wagon in the theater’s parking lot. Fearing for her safety, they filed a missing person’s report with Glendora Police Department.

Larry James Allred, 61, was charged in connection with her death in 2014 and later sentenced to 7 years to life in state prison.

The case will be featured on “On the Case with Paula Zahn” at 10 p.m. Sunday
