Potsdam murder to be featured on Investigation Discovery show Deadline: Crime with Tamron Hall on Sunday

POTSDAM — Investigation Discovery (ID) is featuring the Potsdam homicide of Garrett Phillips on its series Deadline: Crime with Tamron Hall on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 10 p.m.

“Life is good for 12-year-old Garrett Phillips, until he’s brutally attacked while home alone,” Investigation Discovery says of the show. “His killer jumps unseen from a window and investigators are left with a vexing mystery that rattles the otherwise peaceful village of Potsdam, New York.”

Tamron Hall returns to TV with new season of ‘Deadline: Crime’

Tamron Hall’s abrupt departure from MSNBC in February left many supporters of the Temple alum wondering what her next step would be after a decade of stellar work with the network.

Details of a new daytime talk show surfaced in July after The Weinstein Co. announced Hall would become the host of a live studio show focused on a mix of current events, human interest stories and interviews. The untitled show remains in development with no current timetable in place for a premiere.

*Tyler Perry’s concern for a missing persons case in Florida will bring him to ID channel’s “Deadline: Crime With Tamron Hall.”

The filmmaker will appear in the Season 5 on Sept. 3, according to Page Six.

Perry will look into the case of Terrance Williams, who suddenly disappeared from Naples, Fla., in 2004. Another man, Felipe Santos, went missing around the same time. Both were seen interacting with the same former sheriff’s deputy, Steve Calkins, following traffic incidents.

Calkins has said he dropped both off at area convenience stores. The cold case had no leads until 2012, when it was covered by Investigation Discovery, after which Perry offered a $100,000 bounty for information.

‘Murder Chose Me’ Renewed For Season 2 By Investigation – Deadline

Investigation Discovery has given the green light to a 10-episode second season of original series Murder Chose Me for a 2018 premiere.

Featuring stories and case files from Rod Demery of Shreveport, LA, the series reflects on his 14 years as a homicide detective – a profession he was drawn to after his mother was murdered. During his career, Demery worked on more than 250 homicide cases, achieving a confession and a 100% solve rate in each case where he served as lead detective. Demery retired from the Shreveport Police Department in March 2016 and now serves as a special homicide investigator for the District Attorney’s Office.
