Inside the Hunt For the Golden State Serial Killer Who Killed 12 and Raped 45 in California

It was around 6:30 a.m., on October 5, 1976, when Jane Sandler heard footsteps running toward her bedroom in her ranch style house in Citrus Heights, California, a middle class suburb of Sacramento.

Thinking it was her husband, who had just left for work for the day, Sandler, a 30-year-old Air Force reserve captain, said, “What did you forget?”

That’s when she looked up and saw an intruder wearing a black ski mask shining a flashlight in her face. As she clutched her three-year-old son next to her, he put a large knife to her chest and muttered, “Shut up, I will kill you.”

The intruder quickly tied their hands, blindfolded them, and tied her feet using sheets from her bed.

“He had this ritual of ripping and tearing these sheets,” Sandler, now 71 and the author of Frozen in Fear: A True Story

Killer Miles Evans two giveaway signs he murdered stepdaughter …

Convicted murderer Miles Evans tried to fool investigators with an emotional plea following the disappearance of his nine-year-old stepdaughter, but two key blunders blew his cover.

Zoe Evans went missing from her home in Warminster, UK, on January 11, 1997, and according to a new documentary, the televised police appeal Evans gave alongside her mother Paula three days later was ladened with giveaway signs that outed him as a liar.

Attempts to deflect attention away from himself backfired, and his body language gave a key indication that Evans, a Private in the Royal Logistics Corps, was responsible for the young girl’s disappearance, Daily Mail reported.

Revealed: How killer Miles Evans let slip TWO tell-tale signs of deception and faked his sadness for the cameras …

Killer soldier Miles Evans let slip two signs of deception as he appealed for help finding his stepdaughter days after he murdered the schoolgirl outside her home in an army town, a new documentary reveals.

Nine-year-old Zoe Evans went missing from her home in Warminster, Wiltshire, on 11 January 1997, shortly after her mother Paula had tucked her into bed and kissed her goodnight.

Days later Evans, an army lorry driver, appeared alongside his wife in a televised police appeal for information on the missing girl, faking his concern as he told Zoe there would be ‘lots of cuddles’ for her if she came home.

However Evans, a Private in the Royal Logistics Corps, was only playing the role of the concerned parent in a bid to deflect police interest in him. For 72 hours earlier he had taken Zoe from her bed, punched her in the

The subtle body language movements of the man behind the murder of UK author Helen Bailey show how he tried to dodge police questions and cover up his cold-hearted crime, a new documentary reveals.

Ian Stewart, 56, repeatedly drugged his fiancée and smothered her before he dragged her body into a sewer below the £1.5 million ($AU 2.5 million) home they shared in Royston, Hertfordshire in England.
