Another TV special looks at Modesto’s most infamous murder case …

As it closes in on 15 years since Laci Peterson was reported missing, the disappearance and murder of the Modesto mother-to-be continues to inspire interest with yet another television special set to debut this week.

Investigation Discovery will debut “Scott Peterson: An American Murder Mystery” on Wednesday evening at 8. It’s at least the third television show to look at the case just this year.

Laci Peterson was eight months pregnant when her husband, Scott, said he returned home from a fishing trip to find her missing from their Covena Avenue home on Christmas Eve 2002. A massive search ensued, with authorities combing nearby East La Loma Park, where Laci Peterson was believed to have taken the couple’s dog for a walk. Family and friends set up a volunteer center at a local hotel, where fliers and maps would be distributed and searches planned.

In January, 2003, police introduced Amber Frey at a

Crime show looks at Columbus’ ‘Stocking Stranglings’ with ‘Big Eddy Club’ author – Columbus Ledger

Welcome to Columbus, Ga., home of the “Stocking Strangler,” and perhaps a plot to pin the serial killings on an innocent man.

That may be what viewers will see Monday in an episode of “Vanity Fair Confidential,” which airs at 9 p.m. EST on the cable crime channel Investigation Discovery.

A film crew visiting Columbus interviewed journalists and others familiar with the series of rapes and stranglings that terrorized the city from September 1977 to April 1978.

In 1986, Carlton Gary was convicted in three of the seven murders, though prosecutors maintained he committed them all, as well as other rapes and assaults.

The show is based on work by David Rose, author of “The Big Eddy Club,” which casts doubt on Gary’s guilt and alleges prosecutors hid evidence of his innocence.

Rose is a British freelance writer.

Here is the online pitch for this episode:

“Seeds of Doubt by David Rose: For six months, a serial

Lt. Joe Kenda looks to Homicide Hunter for relief from the ‘river of death’ in his brain

Are Joe Kenda's stories true 3

Homicide Hunter‘s Joe Kenda is as unassuming and matter-of-fact in real life as he is on television. The Investigation Discovery mainstay was long retired from the Colorado Springs Police Department when reality TV producers came knocking on his door, and uninterested in any attention from the outside world. In fact, while fans may sometimes wonder “Are Joe Kenda’s stories true?”, it’s clear from Kenda’s demeanor that the relevant question to ask is “How true are his stories?”

Homicide Hunter producers got a taste of Kenda’s respect for his life’s work when they first sat down to film him–and presented Kenda with a script. “I’m not an actor,” he told them. “I’m a policeman. If you want me to tell you about this case, I will. If you want me to
