Bank faces huge class action over money laundering

SYDNEY (Reuters) – A law firm threatened yesterday to file a class action suit against Commonwealth Bank of Australia for allegedly failing to disclose that it was facing money-laundering charges, in the latest headache for Australia’s biggest listed company.

Without revealing its potential claim, top class action law firm Maurice Blackburn Lawyers and litigation funder IMF Bentham said their proposed lawsuit would be the largest of its kind ever seen in Australia.

The claim could amount to billions of dollars based on the A$7.9 billion ($6.23 billion) wiped from CBA’s market value in immediate response to the money-laundering charges, filed by a government watchdog on August 3, IFM said. That would easily surpass the A$200 million ($157.82 million) shopping centre owner Centro settled for in 2012.

Javi Marroquin from ‘Teen Mom 2’ now making money via Instagram

Javi Marroquin from “#Teen Mom 2” may not be filming the show as much as before because he is now divorced from Kailyn Lowry. Kailyn is one of the original “Teen Mom 2” stars and she is filming the show as she’s going through her third pregnancy by third man. While her storyline has completely changed over the past year, it sounds like Javi was left out in the cold when it comes to the show.

As fans of the show know, Javi is spending his time with his friends, trying to understand how his ex-wife got pregnant just one month after they finalized their divorce. Of course, Lowry has explained that she got pregnant because her doctors told her she couldn’t have any more children and if she wanted to have a baby, the time would be now.

Kailyn decided to pursue the pregnancy even though she

Raffle to raise money for suicide awareness – News – Houma Today …

In 2009, Houma resident Titus P. Savoie Jr. said he decided to end his life.

“I saw in the distance a big butane truck coming down the road at a fast speed and decided right then and there I was going to end everyone’s hurts by simply making that one leap of fate,” Savoie said. “As the truck got closer, I positioned myself to jump out in front of it. As it approached, just as I was about to leap, I changed my mind. I remember getting so mad at myself for backing out and was mad for even thinking about doing something so dumb.”

Ravaged by conflicting emotions, Savoie said he fell to his knees and screamed in a mixture of anger and relief, comforted only by the internal voices of his mother and friend telling him not to go through with

Discovery UK is threatening to pull its channels from Sky over money disputes

Sky’s dispute with the Discovery Channel – your questions answered

In a fairly major public dispute, broadcaster Discovery UK is threatening to pull its programming from Sky after accusing the service of “[refusing] to pay a fair price” for its 12 channels (which include Eurosport, Animal Planet, TLC and the Discovery Channel, among others).

In a statement, Discovery claims that it is currently paid less by Sky than it was a decade ago (despite the increased cost for customers since then), and has said that if the situation is not resolved by the end of the month they’ll pull all their channels from Sky.

Commenting that negotiations had “reached an impasse,” Discovery accused Sky of using its “dominant market position to further its own commercial interest,” adding that “the vitality of independent broadcasters like Discovery and plurality in TV is under threat.”
