Another TV special looks at Modesto’s most infamous murder case

As it closes in on 15 years since Laci Peterson was reported missing, the disappearance and murder of the Modesto mother-to-be continues to inspire interest with yet another television special set to debut this week.

Investigation Discovery will debut “Scott Peterson: An American Murder Mystery” on Wednesday evening at 8. It’s at least the third television show to look at the case just this year.

Laci Peterson was eight months pregnant when her husband, Scott, said he returned home from a fishing trip to find her missing from their Covena Avenue home on Christmas Eve 2002. A massive search ensued, with authorities combing nearby East La Loma Park, where Laci Peterson was believed to have taken the couple’s dog for a walk. Family and friends set up a volunteer center at a local hotel, where fliers and maps would be distributed and searches planned.

ENCINITAS, CA — Nearly 30 years ago, a beloved Encintias man named Sal Ruscitti was murdered in front of his wife and daughter in their home. Scott Peterson: An American Murder Mystery Testifies to Monstrosity …

Laci Peterson disappeared on Christmas Eve 2002. She was seven and a half months pregnant with her first child. Her husband, Scott Peterson, had an alibi. He claimed he was 90 miles away, fishing on his boat at the Berkeley Marina in Richmond, California. On April 13, 2003, the remains of a male fetus washed ashore on a beach in San Francisco Bay. Laci’s badly decomposed body was discovered soon afterwards.

Scott Peterson was convicted of first-degree murder in 2004, and sentenced to death by lethal injection. He is currently on death row at the San Quentin State Prison.  As the 15th anniversary of his conviction approaches, Scott Peterson is appealing his sentence and Investigation Discovery will probe the case in “Scott Peterson: An American Murder Mystery,” the latest Installment of American Murder Mystery. TV show to recount Grovetown murder

A television show is set to air Wednesday recounting the beating death of a local Grovetown woman by a mother and her son.

The true-crime network, Investigation Discovery, will retell the story of the brutal 2009 murder of Laverne “Kay” Parsons, by Rebecca Bowers Sears and her son Christopher Sean Bowers. The show is tabbed Unusual Suspects: Deadly Intent.

Both Sears and Bowers pleaded guilty to murder in 2012.

On March 25, 2009, Parsons was found in the garage of her Grovetown residence, beaten to death with a bat and a claw hammer. Sears and Bowers were arrested a few days later. Both were indicted on murder, armed robbery and burglary charges in April 2010 and later convicted.

Authorities said Sears was having an affair with Parson’s husband, David, and wanted to eliminate her romantic rival.

ID readies “Scott Peterson: An American Murder Mystery”

Investigation Discovery has revealed the latest installment of its An American Murder Mystery franchise will broadcast across the American true crime network on Nov. 29.

Scott Peterson: An American Murder Mystery delves into the mysterious disappearance of Laci Peterson while eight months pregnant with her first child and the disturbing dark side of her husband Scott Peterson.

Laci’s body would be found months later when a couple walking their dog discovered the decomposing body of a late-term fetus on the shoreline of San Francisco Bay. Laci’s body would be washed to shore one mile from where the baby’s body was found a day later.

Scott was later convicted of first degree murder in her death, and with murder in the second degree for the death of their prenatal son, Conner. Sitting on death row at San Quentin State Prison, his case is currently being appealed to the Supreme Court of California.

Terry Childs murdered Linda Jozovich but it took over 27 years to solve the case

This week Dead Silent examines a cold case that took nearly 28 year to solve, as detectives hunted first for the body and then the killer of teenager Linda Jozovich.

Santa Clara in November 1979 and 19-year-old Linda Jozovich took a break from her sales job at Mervyn’s department store, she was never seen alive again.

For over 15 years no sign of Jozovich was found and her family really thought that they would never find out what happened to her. Then in 1995 a hiker found some remains near the Lexington Reservoir in the Santa Cruz Mountains. A search turned up a skull, ribs and jaw bone parts that were later identified as being that of Jozovich.
