Silent Night, Violent Night examines the murder of senior Billie Cunningham, in a case that took years to crack.

Hubbardston, Massachusetts, on December 1, 2006, and 80-year-old Billie Cunningham was found dead in her own home.

The initial police investigation concluded that she’d fallen off a ladder whilst putting up Christmas decorations. She’d fallen into a mirror and the resulting cuts had caused her to bleed to death.

However, her family were not so sure and they’d noticed some strange things in Cunningham’s house. She was a very tidy persona was food lying on the table, a broken decoration and a chair left out of place.

Hastings insurance man Jeff O’Donnell, an avid hunter, will appear on a TV show Tuesday night about the Charles Starkweather murders. In 1993, O’Donnell wrote a book called “Starkweather: A Story of Mass Murder on the Great Plains.”

Hastings man will appear on Investigation Discovery Tuesday night

HASTINGS — Jeff O’Donnell’s father, Edward, used to tell a story about the days when Charles Starkweather’s murderous rampage had people all across Nebraska alarmed.

At the time of the killings, in December 1957 and January 1958, Edward O’Donnell was the principal of Lincoln Elementary School in Beatrice. During the height of the terror, armed parents showed up at the school to pick up their kids.

Thursday cable ratings: ‘Thursday Night Football’ ticks up

Sports dominated the night in Thursday’s cable ratings, with the NFL Network’s coverage of the game between the Tennessee Titans and the Jacksonville Jaguars grabbing the top spot with a 1.8 rating in adults 18-49. It was the first Thursday game of the season airing solely on cable. The network’s pre and post-game specials continued to grab consistent 0.7s for the second week in a row.

Meanwhile, TNT’s broadcasts of the NBA games between Boston and Chicago and the LA Clippers and Portland scored high in the night with 0.8 ratings for the network. On Lifetime, “Project Runway” continued its recent 0.4 streak.
