WATCH: SAG-AFTRA President Candidates Discuss Platforms

In this special episode of “Hollywood Close-Up,” the online show that focuses on creating your own career in the entertainment industry, Natalie Lipka and Wayne Frazier diverge slightly from their usual programming.

In light of the imminent elections for SAG-AFTRA national president, Lipka and Frazier, SAG-AFTRA members themselves, gathered the candidates in order to discuss some of the union’s most pressing issues during a live-broadcasted episode. The present candidates, which included Marilyn Monrovia, Robert B. Martin, and Pete Antico, as well as Esai Morales via pre-recorded statements, were each given equal time to present their platforms.

Investigation Discovery’s president tells Crain’s how sex and murder make for great television

Under Henry Schleiff’s leadership, Investigation Discovery has extended its reach from 54 million homes in 2009, when he joined the network, to more than 86 million homes in the U.S. and more than 110 million in 164 countries. In addition, the cable TV network devoted to true-crime stories has grown from No. 50 
for women to a top-three network for women.

You were head of Court TV in 1998 when it had 33 million subscribers. 
ID has 200 million. Did you suspect true crime would become so popular?
I always thought that the popularity of this genre was underestimated. If you go to the paintings in the caves of Lascaux, France, they are telling stories of people chasing others with spears.
